The 21 best pizza restaurants in L A. Los Angeles Times

Extra mozzarella, Muenster, banana peppers & plenty of feta cheese. Bacon, ground beef, cheddar, mozzarella, onions, & tomato. Fresh cut romaine topped with fresh mozzarella, diced tomatoes & fresh basil with balsamic vinegar & olive oil. Lightly breaded & toasted Ravioli stuffed with Italian sausage & blended cheeses. The mouth-watering pizzas are known for having perfectly puffy crusts, and they are served with a pair of scissors for seamless cutting. The Margherita pizza is a classic that never gets old, but if you want to enjoy the Bar Monette way, top it with caviar and freshly shaved truffles.

Chicken Cordon Blue Sandwich

Despite being a pretty trendy restaurant, the quality remains pretty consistent across the board. After ordering a bottle of vino for the table, start off with the pizza dough bread and butter appetizer. Since the dough is one of the best things about Roberta's, this appetizer is a must-order. You'll also want to add some chili oil for the full experience.

Chicken Portobello Alfredo

The Neapolitan-style pizzas are cooked to perfection and feature a light and fluffy crust that is made from a "slow dough" that Chef Daniele Uditi ferments for 48 hours. If you want to take your pizza to the next level, consider elevating your pie with anchovies, onions, arugula, prosciutto, or mushrooms. Cosa Buona also makes Sicilian pizzas — just be sure to order them in advance since they take a bit longer to cook. Casa Buona uses a wood-fired oven to create top-notch pizzas in a cozy corner of Echo Park. It's pretty small and loved by locals, and though you can certainly pop in for a sit-down meal, Cosa Buona is a wonderful take-out option for East LA residents.

It’s hard to think of a more photogenic pizza than the square Detroit-style pies from the unassuming Apollonia’s on Wilshire. These dense, expertly cheesy pizzas are filled with crunch, cheese, and plenty of sauce, to be sure, but the place’s crispy, thin, round pies are sure to impress. Zucchini, yellow squash, red cherry tomatoes, broccoli & red pepper sautŽed in extra virgin olive oil. Our 8 oz Black Angus burger with chorizo, guacamole, muenster cheese, lettuce and tomato. Fettuccine sautéed with plenty of chopped Italian sausage & our homemade alfredo. Chicken breast, fresh broccoli, garlic, tomato & Alfredo sauce.

Broccoli, mushrooms & red onion steamed & stuffed in a fresh-baked white pita (whole wheat upon request), with choice of sauce on the side. Warm, thick homemade Whole Wheat pita baked fresh to order then stuffed with salad greens & fresh cut veggies. Brushed with garlic butter & topped with mozzarella, muenster, cheddar & parmesan. Served with a side of marinara, ranch, or chipati sauce. Located on Wilshire Boulevard, Apollonia's Pizzeria puts a playful twist on classic thin-crust pizzas.

The main Pizzeria Bianco serves the chef’s famed wood-fired pizzas while Pane Bianco serves slices during the day. Looking back, it’s incredible to see how LA’s unique pizza culture developed over the decades. It likely started in the early ‘80s with Wolfgang Puck’s then-innovative smoked salmon pizza at Spago. But in recent years, Los Angeles saw a notable rise in non-Californian operators making the Westward leap by introducing New York, Detroit, and Neapolitan-style pizzas. Locals also threw formidable hats in SoCal’s pizza ring. The result is Los Angeles being a hotspot for excellent pizza dough topped with local ingredients by chefs who obsess over sauce and delicious pies.

LBK is the kind of family-friendly pizza takeaway that every neighborhood deserves. Pies come out hot and fast here, and on busy days there can be a bit of a wait, so order ahead to enjoy at home. Danny Boy’s comes from one of NYC’s former Meatball Shop co-founders and is an homage to East Coast red-sauce roots. It’s in an unusual space, tucked away in an office building atrium, which is a lovely place to have takeout pizza.

From the Green Monster to The Kitten, be sure to get each pie "Gorilla Style" with basil, Parmesan, oregano, chili flakes, and extra virgin olive oil. Pijja Palace is a creative and one-of-a-kind restaurant that made headlines pretty quickly after opening in 2022. Though pizza is not necessarily the main offering, they are top-notch. The pizza can be ordered in a small or large size, and patrons are essentially able to build their own pie exactly to their liking. After choosing your size, start by picking your sauce. The flavorful sauce options include Northern Makhini, Peri Peri Vindaloo, and White Korma.

Whole wheat pita stuffed with dried cherries, chopped walnuts, fresh gorgonzola cheese & red onions. Each topping costs between $2 and $5, and you can add everything from Tandoori onions to chicken tikka. For a little spice, opt for the stinger chiles and spicy pepperoni.

Pizzeria Sei is a Pico-Robertson favorite that has brought Tokyo-style pizza to LA. The pizza here is super similar to classic Neapolitan-style pies and is cooked in a wood-fired oven. Start off on a lighter foot with the Caesar salad as an appetizer before indulging in one of the white or red sauces pizzas. If you plan on ordering online for pickup, you'll definitely want to do it first thing in the morning since they tend to sell out pretty fast. However, dining in is the best way to enjoy the pizza at its freshest, and you can also pair it with a glass of wine or beer.

In fact, there are now two different locations in the coastal beach town, proving just how much locals love Little Coyote. The 16-inch pizzas are ideal for sharing, and the classic New York flavors never get old. From cheese to pepperoni to Margherita, Little Coyote caters to pizza lovers that like to keep things classic and cure their nostalgia. The white pie is a great option for those who want to skip the standard red sauce. The burrata pizza is topped with squash blossoms, tomatoes, and extra virgin olive oil, and it's one of the most popular vegetarian pizzas on the menu. However, if you prefer a little protein, the spicy Salame with Fresno chiles is an absolute must-order.

Green peppers, mushrooms, red onions, cucumbers, muenster cheese, tomato & ranch dressing. Fresh breast of chicken lightly breaded & sautéed topped with smoked ham, melted swiss cheese, lettuce & tomato. Salad greens, red onions, cucumbers, celery, carrots, tomatoes, cheddar & mozzarella, topped with our famous fried chicken tenders. Whole wheat pita stuffed with salad greens, feta cheese, beets, pepperoncini, red onion, kalamata olives & tomato. Nacho chips, onions, green peppers, black olives & tomatoes, topped with melted mozzarella, Muenster, cheddar cheese & jalapeños. Chargrilled chicken breast baked and topped with American cheese, lettuce, tomato and mayo.

With inventive pizzas boasting supple but charred crusts and levain bread with a wonderfully brown crust, Ronan is a haven for those who love carbohydrates. The dining room is deeply moody and perfect any night. The place not only does simple thin round pies, but it also works square and Sicilian-style pizzas daily. Locations are open in Burbank, near Santa Monica College, Fairfax, West LA, El Segundo, and Altadena. Smoked pork smothered in BBQ sauce, served on a brioche bun with coleslaw and steak fries. Turkey breast, swiss cheese, sauerkraut, & thousand island dressing.

Grand Celebration Cruise Ship 2024-2025 Book A Cruise Ship Vacation

ms grand celebration cruise

As of September 2019, they offer cruises to Grand Bahama Island and Nassau. The company was founded in late 2014, and began operating its first cruises in February 2015 with the Grand Celebration. MS Magellan was a Holiday-class cruise ship of Seajets, which was formerly owned by Carnival Cruise Line as the Holiday and Ibero Cruises as the Grand Holiday. She last sailed for Cruise & Maritime Voyages from Spring 2015 to 2020 as the Magellan until Cruise & Maritime Voyages ceased operations due to the COVID-19 pandemic. She was then sold at auction and was scrapped at Alang, India in early 2021.

As such, the 133,868 GT, 323 m long Vista-class cruise ship is the largest in the fleet. She is also Carnival's 27th operating vessel and the final Vista-class ship in the fleet, which includes Carnival Vista and Carnival Horizon. Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line is a cruise line that operates two-day voyages out of West Palm Beach, FL.

Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line chartered Grand Classica ship to house workers in New Orleans

In August 2016, he became CEO and President of the Las Vegas-based Scientific Games Corporation (a leading developer of technology products and services for the worldwide gaming and lottery industries). The company's other owner (with 50% stake) is Oneil Khosa (the India-based Blue Ocean Cruises company's CEO and Managing Director). Until 2014, Blue Ocean operated short breaks (1-, 2- and 4-nights itineraries) leaving from Mumbai-Bombay and Mormugao-Goa. In mid-November 2020 was unofficially announced that the ship Grand Celebration has been sold for scrap metal (for an undisclosed sale price).

ALL CRUISE LINES (1543 SHIPS)

If you're a fan of the latest in high-tech stage productions or you just can't do without bumper cars and ropes courses, this ship probably isn't your best option. If you've never cruised but want to see what it's all about, a Grand Celebration sailing is an ideal way to test the waters (pun intended). You can experience cruise life for two days at a fair price, which means that you won't have invested a ridiculous amount of time or money in something you aren't even sure you'll like.

On October 16, 2023, Carnival Corporation (as shipowner) officially confirmed the sale of the 23-year-old Costa Atlantica (through its subsidiary Adora Cruises Ltd) valued at USD 64,6 million (~EUR 61M). The new shipowner (yet to be revealed) will charter the vessel to Margaritaville at Sea/Bahamas Paradise which will operate it under the new name "Margaritaville at Sea Islander" (Margaritaville Islander). The regularly scheduled Florida-Bahamas short-breaks are very popular among both American and Bahamian citizens as they provide a cheap shopping travel alternative. Bahamas Paradise estimated that these tourists spend ~USD 4,5 million annually. The MV Grand Classica arrived with approximately 650 passengers on board.

night / 3-day Bahamas cruise itinerary

In 2017, Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line signed with The Bahamas a 3-year deal (until 2020) to bring both vessels (Celebration and Classica) to Grand Bahama Island on 2-night itineraries. With both ships, the company now has an annual passenger shipping capacity of 0,5+ million. A passport is highly recommended, but not mandatory as US passengers can travel with original birth certificates.

Margaritaville at Sea ship MAS Islander to be homeported in Florida (Tampa) starting June 2024

The ship's legal drinking age is 21 (in US waters) and 18 at sea and on Grand Bahama Island. In March 2023, Margaritaville at Sea introduced the industry's first seasonal pass "Ultimate Paradise Pass". It allows pass holders to embark on an unlimited number of non-consecutive 2-night cruises to the Bahamas (Freeport) leaving roundtrip from Palm Beach Florida on Margaritaville Paradise. In mid-November 2020 was unofficially announced that the ship Grand Celebration had been sold for scrap metal (for an undisclosed sale price). The vessel left Freeport Bahamas on November 15th, allegedly heading to India's Alang Shipbreaking Yard (world's largest), with estimated arrival on January 3rd, 2021. On January 2nd, the 34-year-old liner arrived and anchored off Alang, and on January 14th was beached for scrapping.

It spreads across 2 decks and has large porthole windows covered by curtains. The signature production shows change every 8 weeks, but include performances of American hits with many costume changes, plus variety acts that feature acrobats, comedians, magicians. In addition to the live performances, the theater lounge is also used for movies. The Holiday-class Grand Celebration had two sisterships - MS Holiday/CMV Magellan and Henna (Carnival Jubilee).

A new concept for lunch and dinner on deck 9, serving Italian fare, including flat breads, calzones and build-your-own gourmet pizzas. The company resumed the USA-Bahamas service on July 8, 2021, with Grand Classica. Admiralty Club (formerly "Admiral's Steak and Seafood") is a specialty restaurant (at a surcharge) also serving Champagne Breakfast.

In April 2018, Grand Classica (fka Costa neoClassica/now Margaritaville Paradise) joined MS Grand Celebration as the 2nd ship in the fleet of the Florida-based company Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line. Carnival Celebration's sisterships (Holiday-class CCL boats) were MS Jubilee (1986-built/2017-scrapped) and MS Holiday/CMV Magellan (1985-built/2021-scrapped). The 1896-passenger cruise ship Grand Celebration was operated by IberoCruceros until November 2014, when it was transferred to Costa Cruises. However, on November 21, 2014 (the day before the vessel's scheduled departure on the Maiden Voyage for Costa) was announced that the ship had been purchased by an unnamed buyer. On December 23 was revealed the new shipowner - Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line Ltd.

Oceanview / outside cabins are with large windows (non-opening) and curtains. Some ("family cabins") accommodate up to 4 passengers via Pullman / rollaway beds. Come experience the ship's sizzling hotspot for an unleashed surge of nightlife fun. Amenities include a TV, desk, a private bathroom with shower, hair dryer, and ample storage space. Entertainment onboard Grand Celebration is impressive in its own right, and we felt there was plenty to do for such a short sailing. However, keep in mind that the ship is mainly used as a means of transportation to the Bahamas.

The pass prices started at US$899 (per person based on double occupancy) exclusive of taxes/fees/port expenses, which are due at booking. Members of the Ministry of Tourism & Aviation, Freeport Harbour Company, Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line, and the ship's captain and crew participated in the traditional plaque exchange. For a limited time, Complete Reservation Solutions is offering a COMPLIMENTARY 2-Night Cruise for 2 Guests to Grand Bahama Island to introduce new travelers to our cruise line! Most people of course ask us why we would do this when we’re already the best getaway cruise to the Bahamas for 4 consecutive years. Feast on freshly-prepared entrees and chef-crafted favorites like Honey Glazed Salmon.

The Grand Celebration was sold for scrap in 2020 with her sister ship, MS Holiday, precipitated in part by the COVID-19 pandemic.[1][2] A third sister ship, the MS Jubilee, was last operated by HNA Tourism. Regal Room – One of the most popular venues on Grand Celebration, the Regal Room on Grand Classica, located on deck 9 aft, will feature a large bar and stage for live music and entertainment. Guests can also enjoy classic pub games such as pool, darts, skee-ball and vintage arcade games. Grand Celebration will unveil its newly developed Crow’s Nest Sports Bar & Grill in March.

Carnival Celebration Cruise Ship Review: How Does Newest & Largest Ship Compare

In this review, I will be sharing my opinions after sailing aboard this fantastic new ship from Carnival. Carnival Celebration will also celebrate the line's history by integrating pieces from former Carnival ships into its decor. Guests can start trying to spot these homages as soon as they step onboard, as many will be located in the Grand Celebration atrium zone.

Carnival Celebration is a Win for Multigenerational Families

We swung by Guy's Pig & Anchor Smokehouse | Brewhouse for breakfast and barbecue dinner, played trivia, sampled beers brewed right on board and watched other people watch sports at the Heroes Tribute Bar. I was bummed that I never got to hear the band that played here after-hours because the setting is perfect for kicking back with a drink and listening to live music. Carnival Celebration's main dining rooms feature select items from the onboard steakhouse, available for an additional fee. Traditionally, shipboard dining includes a complimentary Lido Buffet Restaurant. A special venue is the New England-inspired casual eatery Seafood Shack.

Sit-down dining

The Carnival Celebration is the second ship to have BOLT, the Ultimate Sea coaster. BOLT is full of drops, twists, and turns 187 feet above the water line at incredible speeds. We also appreciated the excellent new accent lighting around the desk’s mirror and the bed’s headboard. The stateroom’s new color scheme and styling were very friendly and contemporary. The ship is also Carnival's second vessel powered by cleaner-burning liquefied natural gas.

CENTER STAGE + PLAYLIST PRODUCTIONS

The more than 2,600-stateroom ship is made up of six zones, with festive touches and nods to its history incorporated throughout. Guests enter through the atrium in Celebration Central, with a ceiling designed to mimic a confetti cannon, courtesy of roughly 1,400 colorful light fixtures. Carnival Celebration, the second vessel in the line's Excel class, will sail its inaugural voyage from the U.S. on Monday. The debut of the 17-deck ship, which bears the same name as an earlier Carnival vessel launched in the late 1980s, marks the culmination of the line's 50th anniversary celebration this year.

Carnival Celebration current position

Watching live music during the cruise, up close from string trios, piano players, full rock bands, and more, makes a Carnival Cruise extra special. Most evenings, you could watch live music shows in six other venues throughout the ship. We saw many people having full meals here, and it all looked and smelled amazing.

Several pools are available, and we were able to find lounge chairs easier than on other cruise ships. You won’t go hungry on the Celebration, even when you’re not paying extra for the specialty restaurants. Over we found the food not quite as good as on other cruises, we still rated it slightly higher than the higher-end all-inclusive resorts we’ve been to recently, such as the Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana in Punta Cana.

This spot takes over instead of having a typical atrium like you see. It offers a three-deck performance area (complete with stage and video backdrop) where performances are held throughout the entire cruise that’s also combined with a path through the rest of the ship. Located on top-deck (deck 19), Loft 19 is a new VIP leisure concept (secluded retreat for adults) designed as a premium resort complex. Here are offered full bar service, swimming pool, sunbathing area with cabanas, deckchairs and sun loungers available for rent. The cabanas are fully-stocked with beverages, chilled towels, plush bathrobes and provide dedicated concierge service with lunch delivery and fresh fruits. Carnival Excel Suite passengers enjoy priority cabana reservations.

In contrast, on our cruise the Celebration main theater was mostly used for game shows type shows involving audience participation like Family Feud, which took up several nights of our seven night cruise. We found the nightly entertainment to be much different than on Royal Carribean, which uses its main large theater for shows or broadway type plays each night. Thankfully, we found the Celebration no worse (or better) than any other cruise and limited the buffet to when we were limited on time, such as before or after a shore excursion. We usually select an ocean-facing (side of the ship) balcony room, but we opted to do a forward-facing balcony on this cruise.

Carnival Celebration, while impressive in its own right, is not the first of its kind. The ship is the second Excel-class cruise ship to come from Carnival Cruise Line, following in the footsteps of sister ship Mardi Gras. Carnival’s Mardi Gras cruise ship debuted in the summer of 2021. The ship was only completed in November 2022, with the delivery ceremony taking place at the shipyard early that month.

Nearby, Bar 820 offers up South Florida-themed cocktails and coffees in a clever space that includes indoor and outdoor seating. Carnival Celebration also includes the BOLT roller coaster that was first introduced in 2021 aboard sister-ship Mardi Gras. For a nominal charge ($15 per person on our Eastern Caribbean sailing), you can have the thrills of riding the only roller coaster at sea.

However, I've been on older Carnival ships where all the casual venues are on the lido deck, and the area gets incredibly busy at lunchtime. Too many people crowd into the same spaces, lines snake around corners and bumps and spills are unavoidable. One of my favorite things about Carnival is that the line's ships offer a diversity of casual, included dining venues. New with the Excel class is Shaquille O'Neal's Big Chicken venue serving variations on the fried-chicken-and-biscuit theme from breakfast through the late afternoon. Carnival's pizza is some of the best in the biz, and the customizable tacos and burritos at BlueIguana offer something for everyone.

Food was served at the appropriate temperatures, and each course was well paced, with most meals taking about minutes. This gave us plenty of time to enjoy the evening entertainment around the ship. Each evening, we joined a virtual queue at one of the restaurants, and we never waited more than 10 minutes to get our table assignment.

Here, because of all the people and furniture, it just feels more tight. Carnival has filled the ship with different restaurants ranging from easy grab-and-go items (Street Eats, Guy’s Burger Joint, Big Chicken, etc.) all the way to high-end dining (Rudi’s Seagrill, Fahrenheit 555 Steakhouse). But the big difference is that so many are included with your fare. Latitudes is another addition, with drinks from all over the world, and a travel theme complete with a flipboard like an old train station that displays changing messages. Other bars include Bar 820 in the Miami-themed 820 Biscayne neighborhood, The Watering Hole, Tropicale Bar, Havana Bar, Alchemy Bar, and more. Food & BeverageIt’s impossible to go hungry or thirsty aboard Carnival Celebration.

“They need to make sure that their destination is driving awareness,” Stein answered, “so that people want to go there. Once ports develop awareness and interest, they have to make sure they deliver experiences that resonate with guests, so they’ll want to come back. While the ship is huge compared to other Carnival options and brand new, it doesn’t feel as spacious as our favorite cruise ships like Royal Carribeans Oasis of the Seas. Carnival Celebration is one of Carnival’s newest and largest ships.

One of the most significant issues aboard Carnival Celebration is all the excellent and complimentary food offerings. You won’t go hungry aboard this ship; we found everything delicious. I had the pleasure of sailing aboard Carnival Cruise Line’s newest ship, the Carnival Celebration. Our sailing was one of her first from Port Miami, I was invited to sail as a guest with a media group. Our itinerary was a seven-night cruise from Port Miami, and we sailed a Western Caribbean cruise itinerary with port stops in Cozumel, Costa Maya, and Mahogany Bay.

Royal Caribbean, for example, offers a shuttle between Miami and Fort Lauderdale for $37 per person, each way. That seems expensive, but remember that is the fee for the entire car. Most shuttles, on the other hand, charge per person, which can make them more expensive for an entire group. One thing to note is that for that rate up to four people can ride in a car. With luggage, you might need a larger vehicle or take two cars if you are traveling with more than three people.

Amazing experiences coming soon.

There is usually an expedited line,  and staff with wheelchairs if assistance is needed getting from the terminal to the ship. From shuttle to ship, the whole process took about 10 minutes. Sometimes this parking is included with a one night’s stay, other times you will need to book a parking package. Still other hotels charge a few bucks a day to park, but at a discount to parking at the port. For full details and a list of hotels, see our Fort Lauderdale hotels with cruise parking page.

Port tenants and visitors may experience heavy traffic and delays Monday, April 22 from 6AM to 2PM due to four cruise ships in port. Motorists are encouraged to include additional time to their commute. The port’s entrances are located at Federal Hwy (US1)/ State Road 84 (Spangler Blvd.), Eisenhower Blvd./SE 17th St., and I-595/Eller Dr. Port Everglades offers secure, well-lit parking in two garages and three gated surface lots with patrols.

Other options include the Diplomat Beach Resort Hollywood, part of the Curio Collection by Hilton. Ridesharing services like Uber and Lyft are also options from the airport and other points in and around Fort Lauderdale. Taxis generally cost between $15 and $20 each way between the airport and port, while ridesharing services are slightly cheaper with fares between $10 and $15. From luxury options like the Ritz-Carlton and Westin to more affordable alternatives such as Fairfield Inn and Holiday Inn, the city offers hotel and resort options for every taste.

Follow the brightly-colored signs to more easily navigate to your terminal and parking garages. For FY2019 (fiscal year) the cruise port handled ~3,892 million tourists (1% increase over FY18). On December 1st, Port Everglades reported a new "One Day World Record" with handled cruise passengers (arriving and departing). The previous single-day record was also in Port Everglades and reported on March 13, 2016 (55885 passengers). Starting December 22, 2017 (through April 2018), HAL Holland America Line (Carnival Corporation brand) scheduled cruises to Cuba roundtrip from Port Everglades on MS Veendam.

Only a 15-minute drive from the beach and ten minutes from the cruise port, this well-connected area is also convenient for exploring the city. All parking garages and surface lots have dedicated spaces for disabled passengers, providing barrier-free access to and from terminals via crosswalks and elevators.

In other words, if you don’t want the possibility of having to wait around to board, then arrive later in the window. Before you can get onto the ship, you have to check in and pass through security. The good news is that it’s no big deal and in most cases can be done in 15 minutes or less.

If you arrive at FLL early in the morning and need breakfast before heading to the port, try The Floridian Diner (1410 East Las Olas Boulevard). Open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, you can order your favorite egg dishes, pancakes, waffles, breakfast wraps and more. At dinnertime, they serve pork chops, country-fried steak, St. Louis ribs and fried chicken, among other hearty plates. While the 4,200-square-foot facility is designed to provide services to crewmembers, cruisers are also welcome.

Uncover the Hidden Causes: Why Your Hair Hurts When Moved

Uncover the Hidden Causes: Why Your Hair Hurts When Moved

Hair is made up of a protein called keratin. When hair is healthy, the keratin strands are smooth and aligned, which allows light to reflect off the hair shaft and give it a shiny appearance. However, when hair is damaged, the keratin strands become rough and uneven, which causes light to scatter and gives the hair a dull appearance. Damaged hair is also more likely to tangle and break, which can lead to pain when the hair is moved.

There are many things that can damage hair, including heat styling, chemical treatments, and environmental factors such as sun exposure and pollution. To avoid damaging your hair, it is important to use gentle hair care products and to limit the use of heat styling tools. You should also protect your hair from the sun and pollution by wearing a hat or scarf when you are outdoors.
